The Slew Makes the Polaris Prize Long List!
Congratulations to upcoming TD Winnipeg International Jazz Festival performers The Slew, who made the long list for this year's Polaris Prize! They were nonminatef for their amazing 2009 release 100%.
The Polaris Music Prize is a music award annually given to the best full-length Canadian Album based on artistic merit, regardless of genre, sales, or record label. The award was established in 2006 and includes a C$20,000 cash prize.
The Slew performs on July 1 at the Pyramid Cabaret.
Buck 65 DVD, First of Five EPs Out Now!
To celebrate 20 years as a "rap weirdo and international romantic," Buck 65 will be releasing one four-song EP a month over the next five months.
Entitled 20 Odd Years, Volume 1 of the series was released this week. It features collaborations with east coast hip hop legend Jorun, Nick Thorburn of Islands, Neil Osbourne of 54-40 and a Leonard Cohen cover featuring Jenn Grant. Volume 1, as well as all subsequent volumes, can be bought on iTunes.
Buck 65 has also released a companion full-length DVD, entitled The Lost Tapes. Check out the trailer below:
