Glenn Buhr is a composer, improvisational pianist, and band leader. He first came to national attention as the front man (with Bramwell Tovey) of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra's highly acclaimed New Music Festival. As a jazz artist, he's toured both western and eastern Canada with the Buhr Quartet and has recorded three critically acclaimed progressive jazz CDs. His most recent CD, Thru the Wounded Sky (on the Marquis label), was listed in the Globe and Mail's year-end review as one of the best of the year. He appears at the festival this year on piano, with Andrew Downing on bass and Rob Siwik on drums.
