Pink Martini

Pink Martini – the 12-piece orchestra known internationally for its original mix of sultry Latin tunes, Cuban marches, French ballads, and classical chamber music – was the smash hit of last year's Jazz Winnipeg Festival. Fans of the group range from classical music enthusiasts to club-hopping aficionados. Their unique musical style led Variety music reviewer Steve Gallo to note: “No matter how Pink Martini gets described, there’s always an element being overlooked, a reliance on phrases such as lounge, cosmopolitan rumba or neo-classical that only tells part of this rich story.” Words may fail to capture the band’s powerfully sophisticated music, but their eclectic sound and growing popularity are evident in their accomplishments. They have performed with world-renowned orchestras including the Boston Pops and the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and have sold out prestigious venues ranging from the Hollywood Bowl to the Salle Wilfrid Pelletier Place des Arts during the Montreal Jazz Festival. The band’s debut album, Sympathique, has sold over one million copies. Their third recording, Hey Eugene! was released last spring and debuted at #1 on the Amazon.com chart.
