Old Market Square

Francophone MC, beatmaker, and graphic designer, Alpha Toshineza, has been rapping since the 1990s. Born in Luxembourg, Alpha — formerly known as Gospel Emcee — was a member of a number of rap groups in Brussels before moving to Winnipeg in 2014 where he started rap label, Jazz Inuit. Three years later, he released the album, Jazz Inuit, a classy, poetic rap record that earned him a nomination at the 2017 Western Canadian Music Awards for “Francophone Artist of the Year.” He also won a SOCAN Prize for Best Francophone Song for his single, “Dis-moi si tu Maimes.” With beats ranging from funk to Afrotrap, Alpha and his band regularly rock the stage across the country with their energetic live show and invite you to experience the sounds of Jazz Inuit.
