Casimiro Nhussi with NAfro Band is an African percussion-based band with a unique and high-energy blend of rhythms and melodies from all over the African continent. Their trademark is the audience interaction and participation that takes place, including singing, dancing, and clapping, bringing the true nature of an African show to Winnipeg audiences. Their style is AfroBeat and AfroJazz with straight-ahead rhythms. Casimiro Nhussi is a professional African dancer, choreographer, dance instructor, and musician based in Winnipeg.
Born in Mozambique, Africa, he has been a dance and music professional since 1982. In addition to performing with his band for nine thousand people for the opening of the African Games, Nhussi is a three-time nominee for the Western Canadian Music Award for his albums Ximbombo (2017), Gweka (2013) and Makonde (2010).
