Marketing Manager

Jazz Winnipeg is hiring a Marketing Manager. This is a permanent, full-time position.

Jazz Winnipeg is the producer of the annual TD Winnipeg International Jazz Festival as well as concerts and events throughout the year. We also produce outreach programs and publish The Speakeasy blog. We operate with a small, permanent staff of four people in a highly collaborative studio office environment.

Tasks for this position include:

  • Development and execution of marketing and communications plans

  • Management of Jazz Winnipeg’s social media feeds

  • Managing media relations

  • Writing and laying out electronic media releases and newsletters

  • Preparing copy and formatting content for website

  • Preparing copy and content for posters, advertising and flyers

  • Planning and executing marketing activations and events

  • Coordinating with and supporting our graphic designer

  • Overseeing distribution of festival posters and programs

  • Selling tickets to Jazz Winnipeg events (by phone or in person)

  • Assisting with festival set-up and tear-down

  • Venue management of concert venues during the festival

  • Other duties as assigned

Specifically, we are looking for an individual with:

  • Exceptional writing ability (media releases, web content, newsletters, artist bios)

  • Experience with data-driven marketing strategies

  • Proficiency with social media best practices and strategies

  • Media relations experience

  • Basic knowledge of web design (via Squarespace or WordPress)

  • Grassroots/street-level marketing experience

  • Strong public speaking skills an asset but not required

  • Concert production experience

  • Experience in / an understanding of the local music scene

  • An understanding of broader music industry trends is an asset but not required

  • A willingness to work long hours

  • Is well-organized

  • Is highly personable

  • Is a critical thinker

  • Has an excellent eye for detail
