Marco Castillo’s extensive musical and rhythmic expertise spans from the gentle embrace of the romantic bossa nova, rustic root rhythms of northeastern Brazil, and upbeat Samba, to the velvety sounds of smooth jazz and infectious funk grooves. These influences can be found in both his work as a solo artist or his collaborations, not the least of which is his full, eight-piece "Brazilian Beats" band, which always brings a one-of-a-kind show. Castillo was selected to represent Brazil in the 2015 Viña del Mar music festival in Chile, reaching more than 250 million people around the world. Held annually since 1960, this international song festival is one of the most important music events in Latin America. Castillo’s original song, “Forró no Canada," from his recently released album, Zabelê, was among the six finalists in the folkloric category. With many nominations, world music awards, and three albums under his belt, Marco is the Latin/world music go-to guy.
