The Samba Jazz Project, a Winnipeg-based group, draws inspiration from the 1960s Rio de Janeiro Beco das Garrafas jazz scene. This vibrant style blends bossa nova with jazz improvisation, shaped by pioneers like Johnny Alf and Zimbo Trio, and influences modern artists such as Hermeto Pascoal and César Camargo Mariano.

The band features Brazilian musicians Emmanuel Bach (guitar) and Dhiego Costa (piano), alongside Canadian talents Ken Gold (saxophone), Joel Green (trombone), Gilles Fournier (bass), and Rob Siwick (drums). Their unique sound fuses Brazilian swing, funk, and jazz, with a repertoire honoring icons like Tom Jobim and João Donato.

Capturing the lively spirit of samba jazz, their performances celebrate this rich musical tradition while incorporating contemporary influences, delighting audiences with an authentic and engaging experience.
