In advance of the Western Canadian premiere of Scott Joplin’s Treemonisha: A Musical Reimagining this November, Manitoba Opera presents an evening of Joplin & Jazz featuring soprano Neema Bickersteth performing songs by Scott Joplin - including selections from his opera Treemonisha - alongside an inventive fusion of jazz, opera, and art song. The program is inspired by Joplin’s musical legacy, exploring his blending of musical styles in Treemonisha and inviting listeners to enjoy Neema’s own modern melding of jazz and classical singing.
