Grand winner of the Jazz Radio-Canada Revelation title for 2020-2021, Carl Mayotte is one of the most popular bassists and jazz musicians in Quebec and Canada right now. Having started his professional career at the age of 16 and completed a master's degree in jazz performance at McGill University, his virtuosity and versatility have been noticed by many musicians and critics, including Alain Caron in Bass Magazine. His third album, Escale, earned him a Félix Award for Jazz Album of the Year in 2022. In 2023, he released his latest album Carnaval, which is a tribute to Brazilian music, and which earned him a nomination at the ADISQ, a GAMIQ for Jazz Album of the Year, and a nomination for the Opus Award.
