Marco Castillo is a Brazilian-Canadian producer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist based in Winnipeg, born in the world's capital of samba, Rio de Janeiro. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Estácio de Sá University in 1994, Castillo began touring South America with top Brazilian acts. Since relocating to Canada in 2006, he has become a prominent figure in Winnipeg's music scene, known for his fusion of Latin rhythms, jazz, and funk. His band, Brazilian Beats, debuted at the Winnipeg Jazz Festival in 2008 and has since become a staple of the city's Latin Brazilian music offerings. With 3 full CD’s and several singles under his belt, Marco have gathering awards and nominations for his music work. Castillo’s original song "Forró no Canadá" from his album Zabelê was a finalist in the Folkloric category at the 2015 Viña del Mar International Song Festival in Chile, one of Latin America's most prestigious music competitions.
