“Carroll has composed genre-blurring works that have elements of classical, new age, jazz and electronics… from one life-affirming moment to the next.” - Winnipeg Free Press
Danny Carroll has been a busy, gigging pianist for decades. For 18 years, he was the regular piano player at the Fort Garry Hotel, performing jazz standards and popular repertoire in the storied Palm Room. He has been a bandleader and Music Director for Dry Cold Productions, as well as numerous ‘Lawyers Shows’ for the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre. He has served as a rehearsal pianist and Music Director at Rainbow Stage, where he has been inducted into the Rainbow Wall of Fame.
Danny has created soundscapes for film, corporate video, and numerous theatre productions, including work with the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre, Prairie Theatre Exchange, Manitoba Theatre for Young People, and Winnipeg Jewish Theatre.
As a composer, Danny creates evocative soundscapes using piano, keyboards, and electronics. He recently released his album Keys for Transformation, a classical-crossover recording of calming, meditative music centred on grand piano melodies, with strings and subtle electronic textures. Danny is affiliated with the Canadian label Enjou (formerly Little Symphony Records).
Danny holds a Bachelor of Music (Composition) and a Master of Education, and has taught sessional classes at the University of Manitoba and Canadian Mennonite University.
For this performance, he is joined by Nenad Zdjelar on bass and Rob Siwik on drums.
