In Her Element: A Women in Jazz Roundtable
Join Jazz Winnipeg for an afternoon conversation with women shaping the sound of jazz today
Jazz Winnipeg presents In Her Element: A Women in Jazz Roundtable, a free afternoon conversation hosted by Jazz Winnipeg executive director Angela Heck at WAG-Qaumajuq (Winnipeg Art Gallery) on Saturday, June 20 from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m.
Presented as part of the 2026 TD Winnipeg International Jazz Festival, the roundtable brings together artists from this year’s lineup for a conversation about creativity, collaboration, leadership, identity, and the evolving role of women in jazz and creative music.
The discussion will feature:
Salin, a Thai-born, Canada-based drummer, producer, and composer whose music blends the sounds of Northeast Thailand with West African psychedelia, funk, and soulful production;
Kristin Korb, an acclaimed bassist and vocalist known for her deep swing, joyful stage presence, and work as both an instrumentalist and singer; and
The Ostara Project members, a Canadian jazz collective led by Jodi Proznick and Amanda Tosoff that celebrates the strength, creativity, and diversity of women in jazz.
“This conversation is about creative leadership, artistic exchange, and the many voices shaping jazz right now,” said Angela Heck, Executive Director of Jazz Winnipeg. “We’re thrilled to bring these artists together for an open, inspiring discussion that invites audiences deeper into the music, the stories, and the communities behind this year’s festival.”
Whether you are a musician, student, arts worker, festivalgoer, or lifelong music fan, In Her Element offers an opportunity to listen, learn, and connect through conversation.
This event is free to attend and no registration is required.
